Orginally recorded as Strafford Co, NH deed bk 19, p 85.

CEMETERY-DEATH: Mrs Mary Hannaford, CEMETERY INSCRIPTIONS FROM MEREDITH, N.H.; 1759-1887; dtd 1931; p 156; FHL film 15,565 item 6 (Rick Crume's file #Co 205); NOTE: "Swasey Yard, Meredith. Inscription on Stone, Stephens Adams. Flag. He was a native of Hamilton, Mass., and followed the sea removed to Moultonborough, N.H., being one of the earliest settlers of that town; Thence he removed to this town where he lived until his death which occurred Oct. 1819, aged 73 years. He was the first tenant of this Graveyard. This stone is erected by his son Ira Adams. Will posterity see that it is perpetuated."

ANNALS AND GENEALOGIES; 1788-1871; publ 1932; pp 92-93; FHL bk 974.245/M2 D2h (Rick Crume's file #Co 214); NOTE: Stephen Adams is buried in the Lang Cemetery in Meredith. "From Boston Transcript, Feb 6, 1929: The death certificate of a Henry Adams, 1788-1871, who died in Meredith, N.H., in 1871, states that his father, Stephen Adams, was born in Hamilton, Mass., which was a part of Ipswich, until 1722. Essex Antiquarian, Vol. 2, states that Stephen Adams was a descendant of William Adams. Stephen Adams' wife was Jane B. Adams, as certificate."
